Objectives

Acquaintance of the total of students with the specific subject of environmental chemistry and formation of the appropriate background in those who will afterwards chose the Thematic Cycle “Environmental Chemistry”.

Syllabus

Environmental pollution: causes, sources, categories, pollutant transport. Ecological principles and environmental parameters. Dissolved oxygen and pollution from wastes. Acidity, pH and cycle of carbon dioxide. Nutrients. Metals. Synthetic organic compounds. Management of chemical substances. REACH Regulation. Oil products and marine litter. Radioactive pollution. Pathogenic organisms. Introduction to atmospheric pollution. Atmospheric photochemistry. Carbon, nitrogen and sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons, suspended particles in the atmosphere.
