The core laws regulating the most important phenomena of Mechanics, Heat and Temperature, Electromagnetics and Optics.
The major goal of the course is the familiarization of the students with the fundamental concepts of physical laws, so as they enhance the way they see the physical world and be able to explain, based on simple laws, usual phenomena of the every day life.
Νo prior knowledge is required
- How physicists explain and predict: through exemplary cases from everyday life we differentiate 'common' from scientific understanding of natural phenomena. - Optics: we use the concept of ray to to explain optical phenomena, and expound additive and subtractive color composition. - heat and temperature: we differentiate the conepts of heat and temperature, internal energy, and we use them to explain nautral phenomena. - Matter’s Molecular composition and the laws of ideal gasses: we use natural science models to understand the concepts of condensation and evaporation and explain phenomena related to ideal gasses - Mechanics: we understand phenomena related to the movement of bodies using the three Newton Laws. - Electricity: we differentiate the concepts of charge, potential difference and the electric current and we use them to study natural phenomena. - Lesson review and practical applications.
