Introduction to multimedia technologies.


Objectives

Know what is a multimedia system, its components and its storage and transmission demands. Know the technologies of multimedia components. Select the means of processing and storage of a component. Use software for the processing of multimedia components. Synthesize and create multimedia applications.


Prerequisites

Be familiar with introductory Computer Science concepts, by attending the course: Computer Science Fundamentals. Basic mathematics. Basic computer programming skills.


Syllabus

Still images – Graphics. Animation. Sound. Information coding and compression. Scanners. Analog and digital video. Digitization and digital signal processing. Optical media. CD technologies. DVD, Blu-ray and HD-DVD technologies. Printer and screen technologies. Virtual reality.
