The main aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic concepts and way of fuction of the political economy, which is mainly approached in this lesson macro. The course includes the study object and objectives of macroeconomic theory, issues relating to GDP, inflation and unemployment, the classical macroeconomic models, balance supply and demand model of small open economies and The basic differences from closed, the Solow model , population growth and technological progress, inflation in line with money, short-term fluctuations, the model IS-LM, the aggregate supply and aggregate demand finally in the open economy.

The main objective of this course is to provide the student with the basic tools to conduct social research after prior analysis of the nature, objectives and usefulness of it.The course after an introduction to the concept of social research, details a general consideration of methods in social psychology.After that are presented topics that have to do with observation and direct observation and then is presented in detail how an interview and a questionnaire is done.To course ends with the presentation of topics related to experimentation and elements of statistic.

Social Theory of Knowledge 1

In the course "Social Theory of Knowledge" I are presented and analyzed the basic settings of schools and persons profess that knowledge is created as a result of action of social factors. The flow of the course is as follows. First are displayed the main "traditional" ideas about the creation of knowledge - scientific knowledge. Within this framework, science and evolution are examined as a product of cumulative process and rational analysis of empirical data. Then are approached critically thechallenges to this model. For this purpose the focus is on the so-called "historicist» (Hanson, Kuhn, Feyerabend), after having briefly presented views from Bachelard and Duhem leading (according to some interpretations) in the aforementioned positions. Reference is also in Popper, particularly in relation with Kuhn, and in Lakatos. Finally are analyzed some chapters from Diderik Baten's work human knowledge. Advocating for a useful rationality. The purpose of teaching these chapters from the aforementioned book is not to reach students at a final view on the creation of knowledge, but an attempt to find loose "composition" of diametrically opposing views. In this way those who will not choose the lessom Social Theory of Knowledge II, in which the same subject is analyzed but under different, more modern and more radical outlook, will have already formed a picture of discussions in this area.

Restorative Justice and Social Mediation

The course aims to familiarize students with contemporary trends of intervention in the context or limitations of judicial systems. Specifically are analyzed the ideological, sociological, cultural approaches of alternative examples of the administration of justice such as restorative or reparative justice. The social mediation as a concept and as a practice for the peaceful conflict resolution applied to social, legal, work and school environments is included in the major applied restorative justice policies. The education of students in technical communication and social mediation constitutes a specific section of the course and includes experiential exercises and role plays lasting at least ten teaching hours.

Organised Crime

The course presents the basic criminology considerations on organized crime (as an organized group, as informal economy as a way of integration of national minorities into society) and the most complex developed during the recent decades.The fields and modes of action of organized crime are analyzed. Then is provided a valid narrative of the forms of organized crime from the 17th century (Caribbean piracy, Italian and American Mafia, political machine in New York, Boston and others, Chinese and Japanese organized crime, and recently in Colombia, Asian Triangle post-Soviet Russia. The relationship of organized crime globalization is examined. Finally, the course turns his attention to the history of organized crime in prostitution in Greece, from the 1830s until the Troube and Vourla (Piraeus) and Vardar (Thessaloniki )up to the modern transnational trafficking of foreign women (1980s, issued by Caribbean, Thailand and Poland, decades 1990 and 2000, issued by Eastern Europe, Balkans and Africa).
